💡 Tips
- Be aware of strict local laws: drinking alcohol on the street is illegal and can result in large fines.
- The hub of the nightlife is on Punta Ballena street, known as 'The Strip'. If you want a quiet night, avoid this area.
- For a calmer beach experience, walk 10-15 minutes north to the neighbouring resort of Palmanova.
- Use the public TIB buses for a cheap and easy trip into the capital city, Palma. The journey takes around 30-40 minutes.
🍽 Food
Look for a seafront restaurant that prepares paella fresh for a minimum of two people. It's a classic Spanish holiday experience.
Head a few streets back from the main strip to find a Spanish-run bar offering more traditional and better-value tapas.
An essential part of the Magaluf experience for many, a full English breakfast is served at almost every cafe and restaurant.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
The shops along the front are the best place to pick up souvenirs, beachwear, and the latest party outfits.
Look for the official 'Tabacos' signs. Prices for tobacco and spirits are often much lower here than in many other countries.
A short walk takes you to a wider, more relaxed beach with a more family-friendly atmosphere.
Walk south-west around the headland to this pretty, palm-fringed cove which feels much more secluded than the main beach.
Take a walk up the hill towards the Torrenova peninsula for great views over the bay, away from the crowds.

Magaluf is one of the best-known resorts in southwest Mallorca, located in the municipality of Calvià. Since the 1960s, the town has developed into a hub for international mass tourism and is particularly famous today for its intense nightlife. The main street, the Punta Ballena Strip, houses hundreds of bars and renowned nightclubs like BCM Planet Dance. In recent years, massive investments have been made to modernize its image, attracting luxury hotels and high-end beach clubs. Magaluf's main beach stretches for 1.6 kilometers, offering fine white sand and numerous water sports opportunities. About 400 meters offshore lies the small rocky island of Illot de sa Porrassa, which serves as a breeding ground for lizards and is a popular destination for swimmers and jet-skiers. Beyond the beach, the town gives attractions such as the Katmandu Park theme resort and Western Water Park, making it attractive for daytime entertainment seekers as well. Culinary options in Magaluf range from fast-food chains to high-quality restaurants in the newer hotel complexes. Connection to the capital, Palma, is excellent via regular bus services and the nearby highway; the drive takes only about 20 minutes. During the peak season from June to August, the town is very busy and loud, while it becomes significantly quieter in the off-season. Those seeking a mix of sun, beach, and party will find the island's largest selection here.
