  • Renting a scooter or bicycle is the best way to explore Formentera from Es Pujols, but book in advance during peak summer.
  • The wooden boardwalk along the beach is well-suited for evening strolls and protects the fragile sand dunes.
  • Tap water on the island is often desalinated and doesn't taste great; buy large water bottles for drinking.
  • Most parking in Es Pujols is paid (blue zone) during the summer months, so check your accommodation's parking options.

Es Pujols is the only resort on Formentera developed specifically for tourism, located in the northeast of the island. Despite its importance as the main hub, the town has preserved its relaxed island vibe and avoids large hotel complexes. The heart of the town is the long wooden promenade separating the settlement from the beach, which hosts a popular hippie market in the evenings selling jewelry and handmade clothing. Most of the island's restaurants, bars, and shops are also found here. Es Pujols beach is characterized by fine white sand and small rocky outcrops that divide the bay. The water is exceptionally clear and shimmers in various shades of turquoise, typical of Formentera. Small offshore islands protect the bay from strong swells, making it good for swimming. As Formentera has no airport of its own, arrival is by ferry from Ibiza to La Savina, and from there by bus, taxi, or bicycle to Es Pujols. Culinary options in town offer an excellent selection of Italian-influenced cuisine (due to the many Italian visitors) as well as traditional fish dishes like 'Peix Sec' (dried fish). Nearby are the famous salt pans of Formentera, a World Heritage site. The best way to get around the island is by bicycle or scooter to quickly reach surrounding dream beaches like Ses Illetes. The atmosphere in Es Pujols is a mix of modern lifestyle and the carefree 'Slow Living' typical of the Balearic Islands.
