Playa de Bogatell
Playa de Bogatell is one of Barcelona's most beloved and well-maintained beaches, created during the massive urban renewal project for the 1992 Olympic Games. Located in the Sant Martí district, between Nova Icària and Mar Bella, this stretch of golden sand offers a significantly more relaxed and less crowded atmosphere compared to the bustling Barceloneta. It is a favorite among locals and older tourists who appreciate its clean environment, spaciousness, and modern amenities.
The promenade lining the beach is wide and beautifully landscaped, perfect for cycling, jogging, or taking a leisurely evening stroll. The beach itself stretches for about 700 meters, providing ample space for sunbathers even during the peak summer months. The Mediterranean waters here are generally calm and clear, protected by stone breakwaters that make swimming safer and more enjoyable for visitors of all ages.
What makes Playa de Bogatell truly special is its perfect balance of urban convenience and relaxed beach culture. You can easily transition from a morning of sightseeing in the city to an afternoon of sunbathing. The beach is equipped with excellent facilities, including beach volleyball courts, ping-pong tables, and traditional "chiringuitos" (beach bars) where you can sip a refreshing drink while enjoying the gentle sea breeze.
