Freetown City Hall (Sierra Leone)

Weather…

Freetown City Hall is one of the most modern and striking buildings in the capital of Sierra Leone. The new 15-story complex was officially inaugurated in 2020 and was constructed with significant financial support from the South Korean government through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). It replaced the old city hall, which was destroyed in 1999 during the peak of the civil war. The building serves as the administrative headquarters for the Freetown City Council (FCC), housing the Mayor's offices and various municipal departments. Its contemporary glass facade and sustainable design set a new standard for urban development in the region. Beyond administrative functions, the complex includes conference rooms, a ballroom, and an auditorium for cultural and community events. City Hall stands as a powerful symbol of Freetown's reconstruction and modernization following decades of hardship. It provides a centralized hub for municipal services, significantly improving local governance and civic engagement.
