Cornetu is a commune in southwestern Ilfov County, conveniently located along the DN6 national road connecting Bucharest to Alexandria. It is composed of two villages, Cornetu and Buda, and lies on the left bank of the Argeș River near the Mihăilești reservoir. Historically, Cornetu is noted for the Dormition of the Virgin Church, built in the late 18th century by the famous chronicler Stoica Ludescu, which remains a key cultural landmark.
