Jebel Fuwayrit (Qatar)

Weather…

Jebel Fuwayrit is a collection of low, eroded limestone hills on the northeast coast of Qatar, right by Fuwayrit Beach. Although not tall, these hills form a striking contrast to the flat sandy beach. Their rugged surfaces and reddish-brown hues, caused by the oxidation of iron minerals, offer a scenic sight, especially in the warm light of sunrise or sunset. Geologically, they are remnants of older landforms that have withstood coastal erosion. The area is not only scenic but also ecologically important. The adjacent beach is one of the most important nesting sites for Hawksbill sea turtles in Qatar. Every year from April to August, the beach is closed to protect the turtles and their nests. The hills themselves offer opportunities for easy climbing and bouldering, rewarding visitors with an elevated view of the Persian Gulf and the coastline.
