Mielec is a dynamic industrial city in southeastern Poland, located in the valley of the Wisłoka River within the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. The city is globally renowned for its long-standing tradition in aircraft manufacturing, which began with the establishment of the State Aviation Works (PZL) in 1938. Mielec was a key component of the Central Industrial Region (COP) and rapidly developed into one of Poland's foremost technological hubs. Following the economic transition of the 1990s, the city became home to Poland's first Special Economic Zone (SSE Euro-Park Mielec), which now hosts numerous international companies from the aerospace, automotive, and furniture industries. Beyond its industrial prowess, Mielec features cultural landmarks such as the late Baroque Oborski Family Palace, now housing the Regional Museum, and the historic St. Matthew's Church. The city is characterized by modern infrastructure, extensive sports facilities, and an animated cultural scene. The surrounding forests and the Wisłoka River provide residents with various options for active leisure and relaxation. Mielec is today regarded as a prime example of successful economic transformation and remains a driver for innovation and employment in the region.
