Tarnowski Castle in Tarnobrzeg (Poland)

Weather…

The Tarnowski Castle in Tarnobrzeg, commonly known as Dzików Castle, is a significant historic residence that served for centuries as the ancestral seat of the powerful Tarnowski family. Originally founded in the 15th century as a fortified manor, it underwent several transformations, evolving into a Baroque palace and eventually adopting its current Neogothic style in the 19th century. The castle gained international fame for housing the 'Dzików Collection,' which was once one of Poland's most important private art collections and libraries, containing treasures like the original manuscript of Adam Mickiewicz's 'Pan Tadeusz.' In 1927, a catastrophic fire nearly destroyed the castle, but the heroic efforts of the local community saved much of its priceless art and literature. Following meticulous restoration, the castle now houses the Historical Museum of the City of Tarnobrzeg. Surrounded by a lush English-style landscape park, the castle remains a cornerstone of the region's cultural heritage, inviting visitors to explore the legacy of Polish nobility and the artistic wealth of past centuries.
