Zamość Town Hall (Poland)

Weather…

The Zamość Town Hall is one of the most recognizable Renaissance buildings in Poland, situated on the north side of the Great Market Square in the UNESCO-listed Old Town. Built in the late 16th century according to the plans of Bernardo Morando, the structure was later extensively remodeled in the Baroque style during the 17th and 18th centuries. Its most striking feature is the grand, fan-shaped external staircase added in the mid-18th century, which leads to the main entrance. The building is crowned by a 52-meter-high clock tower that gives a panoramic view of the meticulously planned layout. Every day at noon during the summer season, a bugle call is played from the tower, but notably only in three directions, as tradition holds that Jan Zamoyski forbade playing towards Krakow. The town hall continues to serve as the seat of the local government and remains a powerful symbol of Zamość's historical importance. Its elegant white and pink facade makes it a highlight for architecture enthusiasts.
