Czerwionka-Leszczyny is a town with deep roots in the industrial history of Upper Silesia, particularly hard coal mining. The town was formed in 1962 through the merger of the communities of Czerwionka and Leszczyny. Its character is strongly defined by the historic workers' settlements known as 'Familoki'. Built from red brick in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these housing complexes were erected for miners and their families and now stand as an important architectural testament to the region's industrial revolution. The settlement in Czerwionka is considered one of the best-preserved and most pretty of its kind. Beyond its industrial heritage, the town also features cultural attractions, such as the Municipal Cultural Center housed in a renovated historic building. The town's surroundings are surprisingly green, with forests and parks providing opportunities for recreation and outdoor activities. The town is conveniently located near the A1 motorway and is well-integrated into the Silesian transport network, making it an accessible destination for those interested in industrial culture and the history of Silesia. A visit in spring or early autumn is good for exploring the architecture and surrounding nature in pleasant weather.
