Quezon Memorial Shrine (Philippines)

Weather…

The Quezon Memorial Shrine is a prominent landmark located within the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City, Philippines. The 66-meter tall monument was built to honor Manuel Luis Quezon, the second president of the Philippines and the first leader of the Philippine Commonwealth. The specific height of 66 meters represents Quezon's age at the time of his death in 1944. Designed by architect Federico Ilustre, the structure features three vertical pylons representing the country's major island groups: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Atop these pylons are three mourning angels holding sampaguita wreaths, sculpted by Italian artist Francesco Monti. The base of the monument houses a mausoleum containing the remains of President Quezon and his wife, Aurora Quezon. Adjacent to the mausoleum is a museum showcasing historical documents and personal memorabilia from Quezon's presidency. The shrine is surrounded by a large urban park that serves as a center for recreation and public events. It is classified as a National Cultural Treasure for its historical and architectural value.
