Minar-e-Pakistan (Pakistan)

Weather…

Minar-e-Pakistan is a monumental landmark in Lahore, erected at the site where the Lahore Resolution was passed on March 23, 1940. This historic resolution laid the foundation for the demand of a separate state for the Muslims of British India. Construction of the tower began in 1960 and was completed in 1968, with the architecture harmoniously blending modern and traditional Mughal elements. The approximately 70-meter-high tower stands on a base designed in the shape of an eight-pointed star, comprising various levels from rough-cut stone to polished marble. This choice of materials symbolizes the arduous path to independence and the subsequent success. Inscription tablets at the base cite the text of the resolution, along with passages from the Quran and poetry by Muhammad Iqbal. Today, the surrounding Iqbal Park is a popular gathering place, and Minar-e-Pakistan is the primary national symbol of Pakistan's foundation.
