Ratti Gali Lake
Ratti Gali Lake is often hailed as the 'Jewel of Neelum Valley,' a remarkable alpine glacial lake situated at an elevation of 3,700 meters. Its crystal-clear, deep blue waters are framed by emerald-green meadows that erupt into a kaleidoscope of wildflowers during the short summer. Fed by melting glaciers from the towering peaks above, the lake maintains a serene and untouched atmosphere. There are no permanent structures at the lakeside, preserving its raw natural beauty; instead, seasonal campsites provide accommodation for adventurous souls. The surrounding wilderness is home to marmots and elusive mountain flora. While amenities are basic, visitors can enjoy local trout caught from nearby streams and simple mountain fare. Reaching the lake involves a thrilling jeep ride from the village of Dowarian, followed by a moderate hike or horseback ride. Due to its high altitude, the lake is only accessible from July to September, as it remains hidden under a blanket of snow for the rest of the year.
