Kaghan Valley in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is another gem of Pakistan's north, known for its alpine scenery. The valley stretches for 160 kilometers, reaching an altitude of 4,170 meters at the Babusar Pass. The Kunhar River, rich in trout, flows through the valley. The main attraction is Lake Saiful Muluk, a remarkable alpine lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks and associated with a famous local legend. Other notable spots include the town of Naran, which serves as a base for excursions, Lulusar Lake, the source of the Kunhar River, and Dudipatsar Lake. The valley is accessible only during the summer months, as roads are blocked by snow in winter. The indigenous population is mainly composed of Gujjar nomads and other ethnic groups.
