The tomb was originally established in Jolbon but was moved to Pyongyang in 427 AD when the city became the kingdom's new capital. The current complex underwent extensive restoration in 1993 and includes the burial mound, the Chongrung Temple, and numerous stone statues of officials and warriors. The mound has a square base and contains a burial chamber with murals depicting lotus flowers and other motifs. Surrounded by a dense pine forest, the site serves as a symbol of the long history and cultural pride of the Korean nation.
