Ponta Mamoli is the epitome of exclusive 'barefoot luxury' on the southern Mozambican coast. This secluded location is situated north of Ponta do Ouro and gives vast, nearly empty beaches surrounded by a pristine dune landscape. It is a sanctuary for travelers seeking privacy and a deep connection with nature. A highlight of the region is the Maputo Special Reserve, within which Mamoli is located. Here, you can not only explore the rich marine life while snorkeling on shallow reefs but, with luck, also spot elephants in the hinterland. The beaches of Mamoli are also important nesting sites for endangered leatherback and loggerhead turtles, which lay their eggs here between November and February. Accommodations in Ponta Mamoli are among the most luxurious in the country, often offering all-inclusive packages. Access is best achieved with a 4x4 vehicle, as the final kilometers traverse through deep sand. The most pleasant time to visit is during the cooler months from May to October, while the summer months are convenient for turtle watching.
