Vincenti Tower (Malta)

Weather…

The Vincenti Tower, known as Torri ta' Vinċenti, is a significant historical landmark located in the village of Mqabba in southern Malta. It was commissioned in 1726 by Fra Orfelino de Cassiere, who served as the secretary to the Grand Master of the Order of Saint John. The tower was designed as a private fortified countryside residence, featuring a square plan and rising four stories high. Built from local globigerina limestone, its architecture blends residential comfort with defensive characteristics typical of the early 18th century. During World War II, the tower played a strategic role when it was used by British forces as an observation post due to its commanding views over the surrounding landscape and the nearby airfield at Luqa. Today, the building is protected as a Grade 1 national monument, serving as a reminder of the Maltese Baroque period and the socio-political influence of the Knights' administration.
