The hill was formed by the accumulation of glacial till during the final retreat of the Baltic ice stream, leaving behind thick layers of moraine clay and gravel. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the basin of the Ezere River and its tributaries, which have further shaped the relief through fluvial erosion. The vegetation on and around Kursīši Hill includes significant stands of deciduous trees, particularly oak and ash, which thrive in the nutrient-rich glacial soils. Historically, the Kursīši region served as a borderland between various Baltic tribes and later between the Duchy of Courland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
