Kuwait Towers (Kuwait)

Weather…

The Kuwait Towers, inaugurated in 1979, are more than just a water tower; they are a symbol of modern Kuwait and its economic resurgence. Designed by the Swedish firm VBB, the ensemble consists of three towers of varying heights. The main tower (187 meters) holds two spheres; the lower one serves as a water reservoir, while the upper one contains a restaurant and a viewing platform that completes a full rotation every 30 minutes. The middle tower (147 meters) is used solely for water storage. The smallest tower houses the lighting and control equipment for the two larger ones. During the 1990-1991 Iraqi occupation, the towers were severely damaged, but after liberation, they were carefully restored and reopened in 1992. Their restoration symbolized the nation's resilience and reconstruction. The towers blend functionality with a unique aesthetic reminiscent of traditional Islamic mosaics.
