Shymkent Dendropark
The Dendropark in Shymkent, officially named after Asanbai Askarov, is a huge green lung in the third largest city of Kazakhstan. It was founded in 1979 on the site of a former landfill and is an impressive example of ecological restoration. The park covers 120 hectares and is home to a diverse collection of over 600 species of trees and shrubs from different parts of the world. It is a place of peace and recreation for the city's residents, who stroll along the shady paths, jog, or simply enjoy nature. In the center of the park is a large artificial lake where you can rent pedal boats. The park serves not only for recreation but also for education and research, demonstrating the adaptability of different plant species to the arid climate of southern Kazakhstan.
