The Tashkent Zoo is one of the oldest and most significant zoological institutions in Central Asia. Established in 1924 on the grounds of a former palace, it was originally located in the city center. In 1997, the zoo moved to its current site in the Yunusabad district, spanning an area of approximately 21.5 hectares. Today, it houses over 3,000 animals across more than 300 species, including rare fauna from Africa, Asia, and Uzbekistan's native wildlife. The zoo is organized into various thematic sections, such as the aquaterrarium, the primate house, and the raptor department.
