Tashkent Zoo (Uzbekistan)

Weather…

The Tashkent Zoo is one of the oldest and most significant zoological institutions in Central Asia. Established in 1924 on the grounds of a former palace, it was originally located in the city center. In 1997, the zoo moved to its current site in the Yunusabad district, spanning an area of approximately 21.5 hectares. Today, it houses over 3,000 animals across more than 300 species, including rare fauna from Africa, Asia, and Uzbekistan's native wildlife. The zoo is organized into various thematic sections, such as the aquaterrarium, the primate house, and the raptor department. A major focus is placed on the conservation and breeding of endangered regional species. Modern enclosures are designed to closely resemble the animals' natural habitats. Beyond being a popular family recreation spot, the zoo serves as a vital center for scientific research and environmental education. It remains open year-round and provides educational programs for local schools.
