Turgen Gorge

Turgen Gorge is a nature lover's paradise within the Ile-Alatau National Park and a popular destination for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Known for its seven spectacular waterfalls, the gorge provides a refreshing escape during the hot summer months. The Bear Waterfall is particularly impressive, cascading over high cliffs and easily accessible via scenic hiking trails. There are many guided tours from Almaty, but traveling by private vehicle is also straightforward. The best time to visit is from May to September when the trails are dry and nature is in full bloom. In winter, the region turns into a snowy wonderland, making the gorge a year-round destination for those seeking natural beauty.
