Joetsu, located in Niigata Prefecture, is a place steeped in history, closely associated with the legendary samurai Uesugi Kenshin. The ruins of Kasugayama Castle tower over the city, offering insights into Japan's feudal past. Joetsu is also known for Takada Park, which hosts one of the country's three most beautiful nightly cherry blossom spectacles. Joetsu's coastline provides wonderful recreational opportunities on the Sea of Japan. Tōzaki Beach (藤崎海水浴場) is a gem of the region, known for its clear water and photogenic surroundings.
