Ma On Shan is a major new town in the New Territories, situated along the eastern coast of Tolo Harbour. Named after the distinctive 602-meter peak that resembles a horse saddle, the area has transformed from a quiet iron mining village into a bustling residential hub. The town is famous for its scenic waterfront promenade, which stretches for several kilometers and provides dedicated paths for cycling and jogging with panoramic views of the water. Historically significant for its iron ore production until the 1970s, vestiges of its industrial past can still be found on the mountain slopes. Today, it is well-connected to the rest of Hong Kong via the Tuen Ma MTR line. The district gives a blend of high-rise living and natural beauty, with numerous urban parks and easy access to the hiking trails of the Ma On Shan Country Park.
