💡 Tips
- The ferry crossing from Pounta on the mainland takes only about 10 minutes, and tickets can usually be bought directly on board.
- Simos Beach is the main attraction; arrive early in the morning during peak summer to secure a spot before the crowds arrive.
- Bring cash, as not all small vendors or sunbed rentals on the beaches accept credit cards, though the main town has an ATM.
- The island is quite small, making it good for renting a bicycle or scooter to get around instead of bringing a car.
🍽 Food
The port town is lined with traditional fish tavernas serving locally caught seafood right by the water.
Ask for this traditional Greek fisherman's soup, often made with the freshest daily catch at the local tavernas.
A classic Greek island staple; enjoy it with a glass of ouzo while watching the sunset at the harbor.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Look for natural, unprocessed sea salt collected from the rocky shores of the region.
The main port street has a few small boutiques selling handmade jewelry, ceramics, and summer wear.
Located on the western side of the island, this beach is often quieter than Simos and gives a beautiful sunset view.
Built on a tiny islet connected to the main port by a bridge, it's a very peaceful spot for an evening walk.
