Gebel Elba National Park (Egypt)

Weather…

Gebel Elba National Park, located in the far southeastern corner of Egypt within the Hala'ib Triangle, is one of the country's most significant ecological sanctuaries. Covering approximately 35,600 square kilometers, the park encompasses diverse environments ranging from Red Sea coral reefs and mangroves to the rugged Gebel Elba mountains. The park is famous for its unique 'mist oasis' phenomenon, where moisture-laden winds from the sea create frequent fog and precipitation, supporting a lush vegetation uncommon in Egypt's arid climate. It is home to over 450 plant species, including the rare Ombet tree (Dracaena ombet). The wildlife is equally impressive, featuring endangered species such as the Barbary sheep, Nubian ibex, and a wide variety of migratory birds. The area is also the ancestral home of the Bisharin tribes, who maintain a traditional nomadic lifestyle adapted to this extraordinary landscape.
