Göhren is situated at the easternmost point of the island of Rügen on the Mönchgut peninsula. The unique feature of this town is its location between two distinct beaches: the lively North Beach with its pier and promenade, and the natural South Beach, which gives peace and relaxation. Since 2007, Göhren has been a state-recognized Kneipp spa, utilizing the region's natural resources for wellness treatments. The town is embedded in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Southeast Rügen, making it a convenient starting point for hikes and bike tours. Culturally, Göhren has the Mönchgut Museums, providing insights into the lives of the peninsula's former fishermen and farmers. A highlight for railway enthusiasts is the station, which serves as the terminus for the Rasender Roland narrow-gauge steam train. During high season, regular concerts take place at the spa pavilion. The local gastronomy features regional specialties like sea buckthorn products and fresh fish. A walk to the Nordperd, Rügen's easternmost cape, is highly recommended for its spectacular sea views.
