Hadamar is located in the Hessian district of Limburg-Weilburg and looks back on a spirited history as the residence town of the Nassau-Hadamar line. The striking Hadamar Castle, one of the region's most significant Renaissance complexes, still dominates the cityscape today. In the early modern period, the town was a cultural and religious center, reflected in numerous Baroque half-timbered houses and the Jesuit church. However, Hadamar also gained somber notoriety due to its role as a killing center during the Nazi era, which is now commemorated by a memorial. Today, the town is primarily known as a regional center for healthcare and craftsmanship. The historic old town with its narrow alleys and lovingly restored marketplace invites exploration, while the surrounding landscape of the Limburg Basin and the Westerwald provides diverse leisure opportunities.
