- Instead of driving, use the lake ferry service to hop between the towns of Tegernsee, Rottach-Egern, and Bad Wiessee. It's more relaxing and features the best views.
- For the classic postcard view of the lake, hike up to the 'Paraplui' viewpoint above Tegernsee town.
- The Ducal Brewery (Herzogliches Bräustüberl) is extremely popular. Go outside of peak meal times or on a weekday to avoid the biggest crowds.

A visit to the Bräustüberl is a must to experience local beer culture in a historical setting. The town is located between the lakeshore and the slopes of the Leeberg mountain. The Wallberg near Rottach-Egern is the most famous local peak, offering panoramic views over the entire valley after a cable car ride. The lake itself invites cruises with the Bavarian fleet. Access is possible by car via the A8 motorway or by the Bayerische Regiobahn directly from Munich. The best time to visit is year-round, as the region also excels in winter due to its proximity to the Sudelfeld and Spitzingsee ski areas.
