Neutraubling is a unique case in Bavarian urban history, officially recognized as the state's youngest city. Founded in 1949, it was built on the site of a former military airfield that had been heavily bombed during World War II. The town was established to provide housing and employment for refugees and displaced persons from former German eastern territories. Today, it has evolved from a provisional settlement into the most significant industrial hub in the Regensburg district. It is world-renowned as the headquarters of Krones AG, a leader in packaging and bottling technology. The city's layout is distinctive, with broad avenues that still trace the outlines of former runways and hangars. Located in the fertile Danube plain, Neutraubling combines a high density of jobs with modern residential living and excellent recreational facilities, such as the nearby Guggenberger See. Its rapid growth from a post-war necessity to a prosperous modern city serves as a symbol of the German 'Economic Miracle'.
