The town maintains a strong rural character, featuring 'Lüftlmalerei' (traditional mural paintings) on house facades. The climate at 875 meters elevation is health-promoting and ensures snow-reliable cross-country skiing tracks in winter. Culinary highlights include local trout from mountain streams and game dishes from local hunting. Krün is easily accessible via the B2 federal highway and serves as a quieter alternative to the bustling Garmisch. The best time to visit is June for the alpine flowers or September for clear views while hiking. In winter, cross-country skiers find one of the most extensive trail networks in the Bavarian Alps here.
