Haar is a thriving municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Munich, bordering the state capital directly to the east. The town's 20th-century development was significantly shaped by the establishment of a regional psychiatric facility, which has grown into today's Isar-Amper-Klinikum, one of the region's largest employers. Geographically, Haar is situated on the Munich gravel plain, characterized by an open urban structure and numerous green spaces that offer a high quality of life near the metropolis. Over the past few decades, Haar has evolved from a rural village into a modern service-oriented hub. Residents particularly value its superb infrastructure, including a direct S-Bahn connection to downtown Munich. Economically, the municipality benefits from the presence of research-based companies and its proximity to the Munich Trade Fair (Messe München). Cultural life is centered around the Bürgerhaus (Community Center), which hosts a wide range of events and fosters a strong sense of local community.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun–Aug.
