A predominantly rural municipality in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, positioned in the valley between the Chaîne de l'Étoile mountain range and the Massif du Montaiguet. The historical development of the settlement dates back to the Middle Ages and is closely associated with the powerful Agoult-Simiane noble family. Rising in the center of the old village is the prominent Tour de l'Horloge, a square fortified tower constructed in the 13th century that originally formed part of the medieval castle network and now serves as the town's primary landmark. The Romanesque parish church of Saint-Pierre still preserves authentic architectural details from the 11th century. The southern skyline is dominated by the Pilon du Roi, a steep rocky peak on the mountain ridge that represents a highly popular destination for regional hikers and rock climbers. Throughout the 20th century, Simiane-Collongue transformed from a strictly agricultural community, once known heavily for cultivating almonds and olives, into a quiet residential area favored by commuters working in nearby Aix-en-Provence or Marseille.
