Évron is a historic town in the Mayenne department, celebrated for its deep-rooted religious heritage and its significant role in the French agri-food sector. The town's skyline is dominated by the monumental Basilica of Notre-Dame de l'Évron, which features a remarkable blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, housing precious tapestries and religious relics dating back to the 7th century. Historically an abbey town, Évron has transitioned into a modern economic hub, most notably as the global capital for the production of Babybel cheese, with a massive factory that employs a large portion of the local workforce. Geographically, it sits at the entrance of the Coëvrons hills, providing residents and visitors with access to diverse hiking trails and green spaces. The town is also a cultural hotspot, hosting the renowned 'Festival d'Évron' which focuses on sacred music and choral performances. This synergy between centuries-old traditions and large-scale industrial output makes Évron a unique and prosperous community in Western France.
