Divatte-sur-Loire is located in western France in the Loire-Atlantique department, part of the Pays de la Loire region. The municipality was established on January 1, 2016, through the merger of Barbechat and La Chapelle-Basse-Mer. Geographically, the area is bounded to the north by the Loire river, while to the east, the small Divatte river marks the border with the Maine-et-Loire department. The landscape is characterized by the fertile plains of the Loire Valley, convenient for intensive vegetable farming (especially lamb's lettuce). Historically, the region is closely linked to the Duchy of Brittany. Economically, alongside agriculture, viticulture plays a prominent role, as the municipality lies in the heart of the Muscadet wine region. Its proximity to the city of Nantes makes Divatte-sur-Loire an attractive residential location for commuters who appreciate rural life. The banks of the Loire offer diverse recreational opportunities for cyclists (Loire à Vélo) and nature enthusiasts.
