Brissac-Quincé is a scenic town in the Maine-et-Loire department, celebrated primarily for its extraordinary castle, the Château de Brissac. Often called the 'Giant of the Loire Valley,' this castle towers over the surrounding landscape with seven stories, making it the highest in France. It has been the home of the Cossé-Brissac family for over five centuries and contains a remarkable private theater and exquisite tapestries. The town is situated in the fertile Aubance valley, a key sub-region of the Anjou vineyards known for producing world-class Rosé d'Anjou and sweet white wines. The local architecture is defined by the use of 'tuffeau' stone, which gives the streets a warm, creamy glow. Beyond its noble history, Brissac-Quincé is a center for rural tourism and outdoor activities, including hot air ballooning and hiking through the vine-covered hills. Its animated weekly market and traditional festivals make it a lively community that cherishes its heritage while welcoming visitors from around the world to experience the authentic charm of the Pays de la Loire region.
