Boulazac Isle Manoire is a forward-thinking municipality in the Dordogne department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Established through the merger of several smaller towns between 2016 and 2017, it has rapidly become the economic powerhouse of the Greater Périgueux area. Situated just east of the historic city of Périgueux, it balances large-scale industrial zones with pleasant residential districts and preserved natural areas. The town is nationally recognized for its sports culture, particularly its professional basketball team, Boulazac Basket Dordogne (BBD), which draws thousands of fans to 'Le Palio,' one of the region's premier indoor arenas and concert venues. Culturally, the town is a center for the circus arts, hosting the national circus hub 'Agora.' Despite its modern development, the municipality retains its Périgord roots, featuring landmarks like the Château de Lieu-Dieu and the scenic landscapes of the Manoire Valley. The Isle River forms its northern border, providing scenic riverbanks for locals and visitors. Boulazac Isle Manoire represents a successful model of regional administrative consolidation, driving growth while maintaining a high quality of life.
