Officially functioning as an associated commune of Lille since 2000, this municipality stretches along the Deûle canal and stands as a prime example of successfully repurposing industrial heritage. The centerpiece of this urban renewal is EuraTechnologies, ranked among Europe's largest startup incubators, which operates out of the massive restored red-brick structures of the former Le Blan-Lafont textile mill. In terms of entertainment infrastructure, the local Kinepolis multiplex, which opened in 1996, remains one of the largest cinema complexes in France. For outdoor recreation, the Parc Naturel Urbain de Lomme provides a vast protected area of wetlands and ponds, supporting local biodiversity within a highly urbanized setting. A significant section of the inland Port de Lille extends into the town's territory, maintaining the historical importance of local waterway transport. The architectural fabric features traditional Northern French brick workers' houses, often built around central courtyards known as courées. Transportation relies heavily on Line 2 of the Lille Metro system, which runs directly through the area, ensuring a seamless connection to the metropolitan center.
