Tours-Nord is a dynamic district in the northern part of the city of Tours, stretching along the right bank of the Loire River. While the historic center of Tours is often referred to as the Garden of France, the northern sector represents a vital expansion that includes modern residential areas and key infrastructure. The city of Tours was once the capital of the French kingdom and is renowned for its strategic location between the Loire and Cher rivers. The historic heart of the city features the medieval Vieux Tours district, famous for its well-preserved half-timbered houses and the animated Place Plumereau. Architecturally prominent is the Saint-Gatien Cathedral, whose construction spanned several centuries, blending elements from Romanesque to Renaissance styles. Tours holds deep religious significance as a major pilgrimage site for Saint Martin, whose relics rest in the Basilica of Saint Martin. Culturally, the city is regarded as a center for the French language and lifestyle, shaped by its prestigious university and fine gastronomy. As part of the UNESCO-listed Loire Valley, Tours combines historic grandeur with modern urban development. Tours-Nord benefits from excellent connections to the Tours Val de Loire Airport and serves as a handy starting point for exploring the famous chateaux of the region.
