Le Controis-en-Sologne is a new French commune in the Loir-et-Cher department, created on January 1, 2019, through the merger of Contres, Feings, Fougères-sur-Bièvre, Ouchamps, and Thenay. Geographically, it is located in Sologne, a region characterized by its forests, ponds, and sandy soils. Economically, the town is a major center for the food industry, housing the headquarters and production facility of the famous St. Michel biscuit brand. In addition to industry, agriculture plays a central role, particularly viticulture (AOC Cheverny) and the cultivation of strawberries and asparagus. Architecturally, the Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre stands out as a fortified medieval castle, providing a stark contrast to the grand Loire Valley châteaux nearby. The town serves as a gateway to Sologne and is an important hub for local trade and tourism.
