Saint-Just-sur-Loire is now an integral part of the merged commune of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert in the Loire department. The town is situated on the right bank of the Loire River, in an area where the river exits the Massif Central. Historically, the location gained worldwide fame in the 19th century through its glass industry, particularly for the production of hand-blown flat glass for stained glass windows. The Verrerie de Saint-Just remains a reference for glass art to this day. Before the merger, Saint-Just-sur-Loire was an independent commercial center that benefited from river navigation on the Loire. The geography is shaped by its proximity to the Loire Gorges nature reserve, making it an attractive residential area. The architecture in the center reflects the industrial past with workers' houses and grand factory owners' villas, complemented by the modern infrastructure of the Saint-Étienne metropolitan area.
