Entrelacs is a sprawling commune in the Savoie department of southeastern France, formed on January 1, 2016, through the merger of six historic villages: Albens, Cessens, Épersy, Mognard, Saint-Germain-la-Chambotte, and Saint-Girod. Its name, which means 'Between Lakes,' perfectly captures its geographic location in the Albanais region, situated between the majestic Lake Bourget and the crystal-clear Lake Annecy. The terrain of Entrelacs is incredibly diverse, ranging from fertile agricultural plains to the rugged slopes of the Massif de la Chambotte. The commune's standout attraction is the 'Belvédère de la Chambotte,' a viewpoint famous for offering one of the most striking panoramic views in the French Alps, overlooking the entirety of Lake Bourget. Historically, the area was a key rural district of the Duchy of Savoy, and its heritage is still visible in its stone farmhouses and ancient village churches. Today, Entrelacs is a thriving community that balances traditional dairy farming with a growing outdoor tourism industry. It is a popular residential choice for professionals working in nearby Annecy or Aix-les-Bains, offering a peaceful mountain lifestyle with excellent regional connectivity. The town also serves as a gateway to the Bauges Mountains National Park, providing endless opportunities for hiking, skiing, and exploring the rich natural and culinary traditions of the Savoie region.
