Repovesi (Finland)

Weather…

Repovesi National Park in southeastern Finland, near Kouvola, was established in 2003 and has become one of the country's most frequented hiking destinations. The area was historically used for intensive commercial forestry before being protected to preserve its rugged forest and lake scenery. The park's centerpiece is the Olhavanvuori rock, which rises 50 meters vertically from Lake Olhavanlampi and is widely regarded as Finland's premier rock climbing site. Another major attraction is the Lapinsalmi suspension bridge, spanning a deep channel of water. Spanning approximately 15 square kilometers, the park has hiking routes of varying difficulty, including the popular Ketunlenkki loop. Wildlife in the area includes rare species such as the red-throated diver and the osprey, which nest by the pristine lakes. A hand-operated ferry provides a unique way for visitors to cross water channels at strategic points.
