Karijoki Church is a simple and elegant wooden structure completed in 1812. It was designed by master builder Salomon Köhlström, who was well-known for his functional yet aesthetically pleasing religious buildings in Western Finland. The church follows a cruciform layout, typifying the rural Finnish neoclassical architecture of the early 19th century. A notable feature is the detached bell tower, which was erected in 1811, just before the main building's completion. The interior contains an altarpiece by Johan Gustav Hedman depicting the Crucifixion of Christ, creating a peaceful and meditative ambiance. Throughout its history, the church has undergone several renovations aimed at preserving its historic timber character. Set within an idyllic cultural landscape, it serves as the spiritual and social heart of the Karijoki community, surrounded by a cemetery with ancient headstones.
