Nhlangano is the fourth-largest town in Eswatini and the administrative seat of the southern Shiselweni District. The name means 'place of meeting' in siSwati and commemorates the historic 1947 encounter between King Sobhuza II and Britain's King George VI, an event that cemented the diplomatic ties between the kingdom and the British Crown. The town sits at about 1,150 meters elevation in rolling middle-veld countryside and enjoys a temperate climate with cool winters and mild summers. Economically Nhlangano benefits from its proximity to the forestry industry, especially the vast pine and eucalyptus plantations around Mhlosheni and Hlatikulu. The town hosts several government offices, a police academy, the Nhlangano Casino Royale Hotel, and an important weekly market where farmers from the region sell their produce. About 30 kilometers to the south lies the Mahamba border crossing into South Africa, giving Nhlangano a key role as a trading hub for cross-border traffic. The surrounding landscape with the Mhlosheni Hills is popular with hikers and nature lovers.
