Weather…

Asa Koma is a prehistoric site in the Gobaad Plain of Djibouti, outstanding for its insights into the transition to the Neolithic period. Dated to approximately 2500 BC, the site provides evidence of a specialized lifestyle on the shores of former lakes. Archaeologists discovered vast quantities of fish bones and wild animal remains here, alongside early indicators of cattle herding. Particularly noteworthy is the production of pottery decorated with complex geometric patterns, demonstrating high levels of craftsmanship. The inhabitants of Asa Koma utilized obsidian microliths for hunting and processing their catch. The site illustrates how early inhabitants of the Horn of Africa adapted their subsistence strategies to a changing environment as the great lakes of the African Rift Valley slowly receded.
