Egeskov Castle (Denmark)

Weather…

Egeskov Castle on the island of Funen is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture. Built in 1554 in the middle of a lake on thousands of oak piles, its name literally translates to 'oak forest'. While still a private residence, large portions of the castle are open to visitors. The interior features grand halls, period furniture, and an extensive collection of hunting trophies. A highlight is 'Titania’s Palace', an incredibly detailed and enormous dollhouse. The grounds of Egeskov are world-renowned and have frequently been named Denmark's most beautiful gardens. They include several labyrinths, a baroque garden, and a sensory herb garden. The estate also houses several museums, most notably an impressive collection of vintage cars, motorcycles, and historic aircraft. Families can enjoy large playgrounds and a 'Tree Top Walk' high above the ground. Egeskov has a full day of entertainment in a fairytale setting, easily accessible from Odense or Svendborg.
