Rožnov pod Radhoštěm is home to the Wallachian Open Air Museum, the largest and oldest of its kind in Central Europe. The museum is divided into three parts: the 'Wooden Town,' the 'Wallachian Village,' and the 'Water Mill Valley.' It vividly preserves the 17th to 19th-century history of the Moravian Wallachia region through original timber buildings, churches, and technical monuments. Visitors can witness traditional crafts, enjoy folklore performances, and taste the local 'frgály' (large sweet pastries). The wooden Church of St. Anne in the Wooden Town section is a particular highlight. The museum isn't just a static display; it frequently hosts festivals where ancient customs, costumes, and music come to life. The surrounding Beskydy Mountains offer excellent hiking, especially the trail to Radhošť Mountain, famous for its statue of the pagan god Radegast. The town itself is also known for its historic brewery and unique beer spa. Located in eastern Moravia near the Slovak border, Rožnov is best visited during summer for festivals or in December for traditional advent markets. Families will appreciate the interactive workshops and the spacious park setting. The town is accessible by train or bus from Ostrava or Olomouc. Rožnov provides a well-suited blend of cultural heritage and outdoor activities in one of the most easy on the eye regions of the country.
