- Check out the local organ manufacturing history at a local museum or church.
🍽 Food
Try this iconic Czech cola drink; it was historically produced in this very region and is widely available on tap in local pubs.
Look for traditional pubs near the main square serving hearty Silesian meat dishes with dumplings.
Stop by a local bakery (Pekárna) for fresh koláče (sweet pastries) early in the morning.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Check out the markets near the Polish border where you can often find local produce and everyday goods from both countries.
Reflecting its industrial past, look for boutique shops in the center selling locally made fabrics or clothing.

Krnov is a historical town in the Czech part of Silesia, located at the confluence of the Opava and Opavice rivers on the Polish border. Established in the 13th century, the town grew into a major textile center, earning the nickname 'Silesian Manchester' during the 19th century. Krnov is globally renowned for its organ-building tradition; the Rieger-Kloss company has been producing high-quality pipe organs for churches and concert halls worldwide since 1873. Architectural treasures include the Krnov Castle with its valuable sgraffito decorations and the synagogue, which is one of the few in the region to have survived the Nazi era. A prominent landmark is the pilgrimage church on Cvilín Hill, which towers over the town. Krnov is also famous as the production site of Kofola, a popular Czechoslovak soft drink whose original recipe was developed here.
