Kopřivnice is a prominent industrial town in the Moravian-Silesian Region, inseparable from the history of automotive engineering. In 1850, Ignác Šustala founded a carriage factory here, which later evolved into the world-famous Tatra brand, one of the oldest vehicle manufacturers in existence. The Tatra Technical Museum serves as the town's main attraction, documenting the groundbreaking journey from the first automobile in Austria-Hungary, the Präsident, to modern heavy-duty trucks. Beyond industry, Kopřivnice is celebrated as the birthplace of the legendary long-distance runner Emil Zátopek, with a dedicated museum honoring his achievements. The town is picturesquely located at the foot of the Beskids Mountains, beneath Bílá hora hill, which features a unique lookout tower. The surrounding area features numerous hiking trails, including paths to the ruins of Šostýn Castle. The modern architecture of the town is heavily influenced by 20th-century industrial expansion, while the center has been revitalized with parks and educational facilities.
